John "Dock" Chitwood lived in Wooldridge, as a farmer and also working on the railroad spur for the mines. Wooldridge was set in a small valley, surrounded by high mountains, providing coal mining and lumbering industries. At one time, according to Pat Cavanah, Dock was a Deputy Sheriff for Campbell County, TN.
Dock was born on July 7, 1878 in Scott County TN. He married Nancy Belle "Nannie" Bridges on February 20, 1902, Scott County TN. On March 8, 1959 he died in Knoxville, Knox, TN. He and Nannie are buried in Jellico TN. His parents were Lindsay B. Chitwood and Armelda Baker.
Nannie Bridges was born 11 April 1882 in Elk Valley, Scott, TN and she died 15 May 1970 in Knoxville, TN. Her parents were David L. Bridges and Julie Smith.
