| I am researching my family. My father, Thomas Aitken WILSON was born 1897 in Kirkwall, Orkney. His father, William Fisher WILSON was born in Aberdeen, the son of Alexander WILSON and Ann Barnett MCKENZIE. His mother, Jemima Reid AITKEN was born in Kirkwall, the daughter of Thomas AITKEN who was born in the Shetland Islands and Elizabeth SMITH, born in Kirkwall. The AITKEN family has been traces back several generation in Shetland. The SMITH family is joined by the families of DREVER, MUIR, SYMIE (SYMYSON),TRAILL My Mother, Edith Mary RAVEN was born in Manachester April 23, 1901, the daughter of Edward Albert RAVEN and Ellen FIRTH. His father, John RAVEN was the proprietor of the Royal Oak Pub in Watnall, Nottinghamshire, England. There were ten children in the family of John RAVEN and Mary COMERY. The other names that have married into the RAVEN family are TWELLS, SMITH, MORLEY, BLAKE. |
