Surnames in my family tree includes Childress, Worthy, Rodgers, Weeks, Burgess, Grantland, Cook, Rosson, Green, Dobbins, McCoy, Kirby, Lowe, et al.
Most of these families migrated from the Virgina area thru either the Tennessee River Valley or thru Georgia to Northeast Alabama then westward to Arkansas, Texas & Oklahoma by the early 1900's. A few names are as far North as Kentucky, but most center around Jackson, DeKalb & Cullman counties of Alabama, Knox & Blount counties of Tennessee, and Upson county, Georgia.

I have a deadend with my paternal grandmother Annie Mae Weeks that any help would be appreciated. Marriage certificate of 1917, Jackson Co, AL states she was 17 and an orphan aat that time. She had at least 2 brothers & one sister, Elsie who died in Oklahoma, location and married name unknown. Supposedly, this family came from the Mobile area, but I cannot find any census records for them.
