| The Chinnis family came over from the British Isles and settled originally in North Carolina. Since then, they have spread somewhat, but are still heavily concentrated in the southeastern United States. Names other than Chinnis that I am researching, are Treadaway or Treadway, Spence, Cole, Coleman, Madison, Bullard, Faught, Riley, Doane, and Staples. Of those, I know that the Faughts are spread fairly wide and that there are a large number of them. (Ack). The Riley and Doane names came over directly from Ireland. |
