I am researching the Stockbridge-Munsee (Mohican) Indian family with the surname of CHICKS.The Chicks family are descendants of Benjamin Kokhkewenaunaunt (King Ben), reputed to be one of the last hereditary Chiefs of the Muh-he-con-new (Mohican) Nation. He was born about 1768. He resigned his office as Sachem in 1771, at the age of 94. His is reported to have lived another 10 years. At the present time I have identified approximately 255 descendants of King Ben. They are presently living in Wisconsin, on or around the Stockbridge-Munsee Indian Reservation, Bowler/Gresham, WI, and in Washington, Idaho, and California. At the present time I am trying to find any information about the first wife of Jacob E. Chicks, born about 1848. They had one son named Andrew Jackson Chicks, born October 3, 1866. Andrew did not know his Mother.I invite anyone with information concerning the Mohican Indian surname of CHICKS, to contact me. I will also share any information I presently have with others.
