I am researching the following families, most of whom are from the central Missouri counties of Boone, Cole, Dallas, Miller, and Moniteau. The earliest some of these families are found in Missouri is 1821. ARNOLD, AUSTEEL, AUSTIN, BENSON, LANDRUM, JOBE, MCKINNEY, MULKEY, PEEPER (PIPER), WILHITE William LANDRUM born 2/18/1797 in Campbell County, Virginia. Married Polly MULKEY 1/1/1822 in Cole County, MO. William died in 1855, Polly in 1853. Their children are, Nancy, Fielding Lewis, Missouri Susannah, Elizabeth H., John Mulkey, Sarah Ann, Martha Jane, and Amanda Jane Mourning. Louis August PEEPER (PIPER) born circa 1803 in Prussia. Migrated to US about 1835. Naturalized in Cole County, MO in 1840. Married Sarah "Sally" MCKINNEY in 1837. Their children are: Virginia, John C, Augusta, Ernest, Nancy J., and Henry. Louis August Peeper (Piper) died in 1853. He was a physician. Joseph AUSTEEL born circa 1823 in Canada, migrated to Boone County, Missouri about 1841 where he married Mary Alice GRINDSTAFF. Their children are: Frances, George, Luella Abbe, Sophie Ann, James J., Joseph, Effnetty, Owen, Lewis Napoleon, Mary Alice, and Nancy E. Family history claims Joseph is the son of a French Canadian trapper and an American Indian woman. The name Austeel is most likley a derivation of "something else", possibly OSTIGUY, OSTILLEY, OR D'AUSTE. Would love to exchange and share information with anyone who has information on these families. I am also interested in the collateral lines and in all descendents. Please contact me. |
