We are researching the following families and their ancesters:Martinson, Lutness, Eliason, Dubourt, Soderberg, Belliveau, Lie (Lee)and Alaire. Most of these families immigrated to North Dakota from Sweden, Norway, France and Canada (Acadia, Quebec).
The French Canadian ancesters date back to the 1600's while most
of the other families immigrated in the late 1800's. Most of the families originally farmed or homesteaded. In the United States, the families originate from the towns of LeRoy, Grand Forks, Buxton and Enderlin, North Dakota. The Lee family is from Southern Minnesota. The Lutness family is from around Bagley, Minnesota. All immigrant families have been traced back to their native countries for at least 3 generations. Biographies for Antoinette F. Dubourt, Leon A. Dubourt, David W. Eliason and Reverend Otto Johan Lutness are in the University of North Dakota Library family history collection.
