Able August Carpenter (son of Joseph Carpenter and Susan Holden) was born October 03, 1863 in Lockport, Illinois, and died April 23, 1946 in Winfield, Cowley County, KS. He married Rosella Sale on July 03, 1886 in Mulberry, KS, daughter of Thomas B. Sale and Angeline Montgomery.

Funeral services for A. A. Carpenter, who died Tuesday, April 23, 1946 at the hospital in Winfield, KS, were held at the McKenzie Funeral home in Cottonwood Falls, Friday, April 26, 1946, at two thirty P. M. Rev. J. O. Borton was in charge with Mrs. Ralph Klamm and Mrs. J. O. Borton furnishing the music. The pall bearers were Roy Rosebrough, Lutt, Lloyd, Thompson, Paul Stackley, George Ludwig and Harry Berends. Interment was made in the Cemetery at Cedar Point, where many of his old neighbors were gathered to pay their last respects.

Abel Augustus Carpenter was born at Lockport, Illinois, October 3, 1863, and departed this life
April 23, 1946 at Winfield, KS at the age of 82 years, 6 months and twenty days.

He came to Kansas with his father, Joe Carpenter, when a small boy of eleven and spent most of his life farming. In 1896 he went to Oklahoma and farmed there until 1912, when he went to Cedar Point and years ago when he purchased a farm in Chase County KS. In December he made his home until his death.

He was united in marriage, July 3, 1886 to Miss Rosalle Sales and to this union ten children were born. His wife and three children receded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, five sons, Ernest of Cottonwood falls, Dewey of Garfield, Utah, Clarence of Cedar Point, Frank of Emporia, and James of Eugene, Oregon, two daughters, Mrs. Lettie Corbin, Clinton, OK and Mrs. Elsie Miller of Thomas, OK; thirty-four grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was a kind and loving father and will be missed by his many friends.
