Henry Croninger built a distillery at an early day, about half a mile north of the grist mill in Sugar Creek Twp. He owned two copper stills, each having a capacity of about twenty-five gallons. Whisky was distilled on shares, at the rate of from one to three barrels per day, and, after probably ten or twelve years, the enterprise was permitted to die. ........ the residency and distillery of Henry Cronigner, constituted what was then known as Willard's Mills, until 1830, approximately, when Mr Bell who then assumed ownership of the mill, opened a small store.
