Looking for Christie in Western Pa., primarily the ancestors of Thomas Christie of Porterville, Pa. He moved from Westmoreland County to Portersville in 1812. Married Eleanor Gailey and was the brother in law of Robert Stewart, founder of Stewartsville (now Portersville). Thomas was the brother of Margaret Stewart, nee Christy. The spelling was apparently changed by Thomas. Margaret was married to Robert S. Stewart in 1800 in Westmoreland county. The History of Butler County 1895 states that Thomas was the brother in law of Robert Stewart. |
