Notes for R
OBERT CINNAMON:
Transcript of letter written by Robert Cinnamon to another gentleman named Cinnamond. Letter is undated.

Your letter received and was glad to hear from one of the same name. Although we do not spell our names the same, I feel sure we are of the same family as there are members of the family that use to add letter 'd' years ago.

My fathers name was John, he had three brothers, James, George, and William. They all lived near one another in County Down, twenty miles from Belfast. Castlewellan was our town , all lived on farms. Father died in 37 at the age of 63. I was only seven years old when he died. There were six boys and two girls in our family. William, John, George, Joseph, James, and Robert were the boys. Jane and Elizabeth were the two girls. I am the youngest of the family and the only one that is living. Mother died when I was a month old. My sister Elizabeth raised me. She lived in a castle with Lord and Lady Annesley at Castlewellan until she died, having never married. My oldest brother William came to America about the time I was born. I never _________ ______ him, he settled on a farm near Quebec, and died there being over 90 years old. Brother John left home after father died, came to America and settled in Kingston. My father's brother James left Ireland in '47 for America and went to upper Canada. My brother James went with them to our brother John in Kingston. He remained there one year and then left for Chicago and from there were to Lacon, Ill where he married and this Geo. Cinnamon who wrote to you is one of his sons.. Brother Geo. stayed in Belfast and was a shoemaker there and died there. Brother Joseph was baggage master on the railroad. Both he and his wife died there with a fever.
I came to America in '49 and staying with my brother James at Lacon for awhile. _______ ______ a history of my life. I have retired from the farm, have two boys Robert and Albert who live on our farms near Rutland, would be glad to have you and any of your family that can come and see me. Could __ see each other then we might be able to ask more questions and explain more fully the history of our _______.Hoping to hear from you again and also see you some time, I remain, Robert Cinnamon Rutland Illinois.
