I began working on my family tree as a hobby when I was in high school at Red Lion, York Co., PA in the early 1970's. Now I know I'll never be finished...I may get back further but each time I do, there are more names to research! This site will be used to post the information I've gleaned over the years that may help other family researchers. Also, I hope anyone discovering any errors or that may be able to add to my database will contact me.
You will find many familiar York County Pennsylvania Dutch names here. In addition to honoring my grandparents, Parke Smith and Bella Kyle, and Harry Flinchbaugh and Mamie Snyder, I am dedicating this to the memory of my mother, Doris Flinchbaugh Smith. I may not live in York County, PA, anymore but it will always be home, it will always remain my roots.
UPDATE - Just learned that John Taylor's wife Sarah was Sarah Faulkner. It's just fantastic to find another family name after more than 30 years of research!!

- Lillie Snyder Neff (40 KB)
My great-aunt, Lillie Snyder Neff, was probably the oldest living York Countian, and perhaps even the oldest living American, upon her death in February 2001. She was 112 years old on May 9, 2000 and lived in Dallastown, York County, PA. She was the daughter of the late Martin Snyder and Elizabeth Strayer, and was the sister of my grandmother, Mamie Snyder Flinchbaugh. Lillie was married to Emanuel Neff, the grandson of Levi Neff and Mary Flinchbaugh through their son Levi Jr. Their son Henry F. Neff was the grandfather of Mamie's husband, Harry E. Flinchbaugh.

- The Bertram Kyle and Rebecca Barley Fauth Family (33 KB)
We're still figuring out which one is who in the picture so would love to hear from my Kyle cousins. The front row from left to right is Frank Posey Kyle, the youngest of the 9 children, my grandmother Bella Kyle Smith, Father Bertram Kyle, Mother Rebecca Barley Fauth, and Nora Smith Portner. In the back row, Howard Kyle is the one with the Navy uniform on, and Uncle Harry Kyle is to left of him in the middle. I think Rev. Charles Kyle is on Harry's other side but I'm not sure which is Chester or Roland Jerome whom I believe they called Jack.
