| I have been working in the field of genealogy for several years and have used FTM in the past, but it seems that my floppies are too old now.I would particularly like information on the Cirou family since that is the group about which I have the least information. I have discovered the immigrant ancestor in all lines. However,since the immigrant ancestor for the Cirou/x family was my grandfather Leon Auguste or Auguste Leon Cirou, I have no further information. Looking at the Minnesota register for my grandfather's marriage to Rosa da Lima Cirou in June of 1896, the space for the name of his parents on both the civil and ecclesiastical register is left blank The church was St. Michael in Stillwater, Minnesota. However, the name Cirou is extant in France in the 17th and 18th centuries and I have corresponded with people who have this name in their lineage. However, there has been no connection with these older lines and mine. The name Cirou is extant in contemporary Europe and, of course, in the US where most, if not all, are cousins. The second major project is to learn more about the Carolan line. My great grandfather, John Carolan, arrived in Kingston, Ontario about 1842 where he was probably registered as John Rogan (his mother's maiden name) He was the child of Daniel Carolan and Ann Rogan and born in Easkey, Cty Sligo on 8 September 1821. He married Catherine LaViolette in St. Gregory's Mission, Oshawa, Ontario January 10, 1854, moved to Kingston, and then to Wallaceburg, Ontario in 1867. He had many children, temporarily moved to Chicago in the 1890's but returned to Wallaceburg where he died in 1908. Another project is to learn whether the Madeleine Ruault who is the mother of Antoine Pilon and who married Thomas Pilon in Bayeux, Normandy is the same Madelein Ruault who has an xtensive genealogy in the Norman genealogical journals. |
