She said she remembered Ella as having long hair that she would keep in a bun on the back of her head. She said she would drive the cows back & forth to pasture and wore 1-1/2" high heels. She said she was a stylish lady., (2) Tammy Baxley Melvin, (Dec. 2, 1999), Aunt Mary [Martin Walker] remembers her as a caring woman. She said one time she and Lucy went there and she took good care of them. Mary said Louin would point out the holes in their clothes and tell Ella to sew them up and she would.) was born August 20, 1863 in Marengo, AL, and died March 03, 1947 in Quitman, Clarke Co., MS. Said to be part Native American (possibly Cherokee because her father was born in SC. He was said by family members to have dark skin. Mother was not known by family members to have Native American blood.)
Died of congestive heart failure at 1: 15 a.m.
Occupation: Housewife
Lived at R.F.D. #2, Crandall, MS when died.
Lived in community of Crandall all her life, according to the death certificate.
Death certificate also shows Frank Rollison, born in North Carolina as her father. D.K. (Don't know?) for her mother. McClellan & Walters Funeral Home handled the burial. John W. Watkins, M.D. signed the death certificate at Watkins Memorial Hospital.
