Author's Note: A Clay descendant from a different line wrote to the Social Security Administration to obtain an SS-5 form for William Alexander Clay and his brother Dick Clay. When she received her copies, one stated that the parents of William A. Clay were Green Clay and Elizabeth Pounds. The one for Dick Clay stated that his parents were Henry Jackson Clay and Margaret Ataway. On the form she received, Dick had written that he was born 13 November 1878, place of birth unknown, and that he was 58 years old living in Guthrie, OK in 1937. This is the only Dick Clay that she found on the SSDI. According to her great uncle, Dick was 10 years older than William Alexander Clay. The family was always told they were brothers and not cousins. She believes that the possibility of two Dick Clay's is real and the information for both has been compacted and messed up. One Dick Clay died in Guthrie, OK at age 81, and one Dick Clay died in Checota, OK at age 90. Yet, only one SSDI record is found for Dick Clay and nothing for Richard Clay. In my research I found her Richard Clay had married Ada Cutsinger in McIntosh Co., OK.

We now have another family puzzle.
