Elizabeth "Lizzie" Chien/Shane (daughter of Robert Frazer/Frazier/Frazee and Emma Chien/Shane) was born Abt. 1867 in Fort. Benton, Montana Territory, and died 10 July 1968 in Crow Reservation, Big Horn Co., MT. She married Yellowtail on Abt. 1886 in Montana Territory.

Author's Note: In the records cited above its quite possible that Lizzie Chien/Shane was married first to a man named Davis. The M. C. used in 1900 could mean Mrs. Chien. In 1910, we see S. C. and could it mean Shane/Chien. Other census records indicate Davis children whose father is white and mother Crow with births beginning about 1870. She does state in the 1910 record that she and Yellow Tail have been married for 25 years (1885) and that she has been married twice. According to the 1885 Crow Census, Yellow Tail, age 22 was living with his mother. In the 1930 record she says she first married at age 15. If that is true, she would have been born about 1867. Her age in 1910 does coincide with the 1900 record. However, in 1920 she says she is 41 which means an age loss of 12 years. In 1930 she is age 60 and should have been at least age 63 and possibly older. That brings up the following family story.
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Chien/Shane's birthday was always celebrated on the 4th of July. The reason for using that day came from an old story that had been passed on. On the day that she was born there were many fireworks that could be seen in the sky and everyone celebrating. It was assumed that it may have been the 4th of July, therefore that was when she celebrated her birthday. At her last birthday, the 4th of July in 1968, I was fortunate enough to be in attendance. I was home on leave from the Navy and would return to CA and then to Guam for duty. My wife and children would remained in MT until my one year of duty ended. While waiting for transportation to my new duty station I received some sad news. My wife wrote that a few days after her birthday, Lizzie had told her daughter Agnes DeerNose to take her to the hospital, that it was her time. She died 10 July 1968 in the Crow Agency Hospital, Crow Agency, MT. It has been said that she was about 105 years of age at her death. A very sad day for over 350 relatives and direct descendants.
