Melissa was my Great-Great-Grandmother. She was born in Greene Co., IL, married Irishman Nicholas Rogers, and farmed near Nortonville, IL. Orphaned as a child and widowed young with 5 children & another on the way, she was hardworking and devoted to her family. She was the Great Granddau of pioneer preacher David Badgley who helped est. the first Protestant (Baptist) church west of the Ohio River in 1799 IL.
