I am researching the following surnames: CLARK,(NY, IL); CARROLL, (TN,IL); TAYLOR,(VA,SC,GA,IL); EDWARDS,(ENG,IL,KS); FITZPATRICK,(IRE,MO,IL); LISH,(KS,IL); ROWNING,(ENG,MA,RI); GEORGE,(ENG,RI); ROSE (SCOT,RI,PA,IL); and STOUT (ENG,NJ,IL). These families through LISH migrated to the area around Gillespie, Macoupin County, Illinois in the 1831-1860 time frame. Many of their descendants are still living in the area.
The LISH surname is from my grandfather, Charles J. HUTTON, who was adopted into the HUTTON family. Charles stated on his marriage application, that Ernst LUESCH and Rosa KELLEY were his parents. The following information was taken from my family Bible:

This family has been especially difficult to track and I would appreciate any assistance on finding information about this family. I have information that shows Martha Lish b 1867 and Harry Lish b. 1877 entering the "Home For The Friendless" in Hannibal, MO in Aug 1880. Mentions that mother had died in Illinois as being reason children being placed in home. This family may have lived in Adams County, IL near Quincy. Bits and pieces of evidence point to this being where they lived.
