NOTE:
Under RELATED FILES, at the bottom of this page, I've posted some Last Wills and Testaments from the Hill Family.

HILL/CLOYD
For my dad's side of the family,I'm researching Hills that settled in Haywood County, TN. Two brothers, William and John, sons of Green Hill, Jr., settled there in the 1840's. William and John both are my great-great-grandfathers. John's daughter, Lucinda, married William's son, Richard (great-grandparents). Their son, John Henry Hill, was my grandfather. William died after 1870. John died about 1850-1851. My grandmother was a Cloyd from Fayette County, TN. The Cloyds settled there after living in middle Tennessee. They were long-time residents of that area; her grandfather was listed on the 1850 census. At least two of her brothers settled in Texas.

GOODMAN/ROSE
My mother's family are the Goodmans from Sullivan County (possibly originally from Virginia) who settled in Fayette County and then Hardeman County, TN. Also the Roses from Polk County, TN, (originally South Carolina) who settled in the same counties. Some stayed in Tennessee, some went on to Missouri, to Arkansas, Arizona, Michigan and Indiana. The Roses came to Fayette/Hardeman about 1880; the Goodmans about 1900.

As I find new or corrected information I will be updating. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who may be related or has corrections/additions.
