Notes for Ralph Campbell Rupley, Jr.: After his father died, Ralph Jr. managed the family estate. He had the leased downtown property and the Post Oak property to care for. He went to night school to earn a law degree to better manage the family affairs. He tried to get a hotel or office building built on the Post Oak property, which was eventually sold to a New York consortium.
Betty Rupley Allen recalls: After we moved to our house on Snapdragon in Lake Jackson, about 1995, Ralph came down from Houston with a fig cutting which he had planted in a pot. This was a special fig with large fruit, developed at A&M. At his memorial service, the pastor wrapped up his message by saying that we all should give cuttings to all our friends, as Ralph had done.
