John Faust house is located at 361 W. San Antonio (1905). This turreted Victorian home belonged to a merchant and cotton buryer. It's incredibly ornate, inside and out. The Union blockade during the Civil War spurred a boom in Texas cotton, which was shipped to Europe via Mexico. Middle men like Faust bought the cotton from area farmers. This lot was also the site of Hermann Seele's later home.
