Born in Trowbridge, my father's parents, JOHN JAMES CLARKE b. 16th May 1874, and ALICE MAUD PIKE b. 6th February 1875, came originally from the Wells and Langport areas of Somerset. My mother's parents, JOSEPH WHITE b. 29th November 1884 and ELSIE CLARA HASSELL b. 1st February 1889 came from the Farleigh Hungerford and Chew Magna areas of Somerset.
