Family history research is a never-ending hobby. All the information 1901 and before is verified on censuses. Much of the information going back to 1837 is verified with birth, marriage and death certificates.
Information with source 'IGI' is taken from the LDS site, directly extracted from parish records but should not be taken as 'gospel' due to the ever-present risk of mis-transcription and human error.
A great deal of assistance has been given by a group of like-minded genealogists on Family Tree Forum and I would like to thank those people here, publicly. The site is free to use and contribute to. The members give their help and advice freely and enthusiastically. There is also a searchable GEDCOM database to search for your ancestors. All you need to do is register. The site was invitation only but the exciting news is that, as from 1 June 2007, it is going open.

EXCITING UPDATE! We have long suspected that John's grandmother on his dad's side came from Littleport in Cambridgshire but could not be sure. We have now had it confirmed by a second cousin of John's after putting a plea for help in the local paper, so now we start to research that line too.
29/09/07: We have discovered that John had an ancestor who fought and died in the Great War. There is a picture of him below: John William Henry Norman.

John William Henry Norman (21 KB) This is a picture of John's first cousin, once removed. Born 19 October 1895 died 17 June 1917 in France during the Great War. Age shall not weary him.
