Notes for GEORGE GREGORY JOHNSTON: James Perry Johnston, in 1931, either placed or arranged to have placed a memorial marker at Siloam Cemetery in honor of his grandparents, George Gregory and Martha Burton Johnston. Supposedly, it is located on the original grave site. Whether it is on the original site or not is strictly speculation at this point, as is whether or not here was an original marker, or markers. At the present time, there is no sign of an original marker. The marker that James P. placed is constructed of concrete rather than marble or granite, and is deteriorating badly. It is in sore need of replacement with something more permanent. |
