Written with love for my Dad, Joseph E. Granier on the first anniversary of his
death 11/6/1998 by his Son, Mark D. Granier

MISSING POP

Do I miss my Dad? Every single day!
I miss him in oh so many ways.
I miss his humor…and his easy laugh;
I miss his guidance on my every path.

I miss his talent…a skilled man was he;
The art he could craft from a single tree.
The things he could build…from a house to a boat;
And on none of these gifts would he ever once gloat.

He was a simple man…so kind and so true;
There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for you.
He asked for so little in return;
To return the favor, I would always yearn.

He taught me to hunt when I was young;
Taught me to fish and to handle a gun.
Alone in the woods, we would pass the time;
Or out in a boat…just wetting a line!

He gave me a love for animals…both big and small;
Especially for dogs…I love them all!
I never skinned a rabbit…never killed a deer;
Yet with him I would hunt, year after year.

I miss the football games to which we would go;
To see the Saints fall to yet another foe.
We would never give up on them…Pop and I;
Searching for silver linings in a clear blue sky.

I miss his help on houses that I had;
Making things good that really were bad.
I learned a lot of things…not just one.
He made me so proud…Joe Granier and Son!

I miss a lot of things…most happy, some sad;
But one thing above all…I miss my Dad!
