Henry Clever, born in 1754 to Michael and Elizabetha Kleber in the vicinity of Fredericksburg, Lebanon Co., PA, began his westward trek in 1785, appearing on the tax rolls in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA. The following year he was on the tax rolls in Mount Pleasant Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA, remaining in that county until approximately 1816, when he made his final move to Wayne Twp., Armstrong Co., PA. His descendants number in the thousands and are far flung across the country. Additional surnames include Beck, Soxman/Saxman, Eberhart, McIntire, Rupp, Porter, Bash, Steffey, Keifer, McAfoose, Simpson, Geiger, Heasley, Houser, Dormire, Allen, Zimmerman, Fleming, Smith, and McMillen, to cite only the earlier lines of intermarriage. He married twice, first to Elizabeth Reigard and second to Elizabeth Leasure, with an estimated 13 offspring, ten of whom are known to have reached adulthood.
