| The parentage of Samuel Thompson Clemmons remains a mystery. The parentage, siblings, and ancestors of Martha Coggin are presented here. The basis for this informtion is "Samuel Thompson Clemmons and His Descendants" by Thelma Caraway Landrum, privately printed in 1981. It has been added to over the past 20 years from information provided by Clemmons Family Annual Newsletters, and contibutions from other family history researchers. Martha Coggin's sister Nancy Coggin married James Merritt, and the Merritt/Coggin/Clemmons families intermarried many times, so their informtion is also presented.
