Isaac Clemow, the base child of Elizabeth Clemow, was christened on December 26th 1803, Veryan, Cornwall, England . He married Christina Lobb, daughter of John & Eleanor nee Bowden, on Jan 10th 1831 at St. Clements Church, Truro, Cornwall, England. Isaac & Christina arrived in South Australia from Truro, Cornwall, on Sunday March 19th 1854, on the ship "Sir Thomas Gresham" with their three children and son in law James Snell. They were 49 and 48 years respectively. Their childrens' ages ranged from 11 - 23 . After four years in South Australia, they decided to try their luck on the Victorian goldfields. Packing their meage possessions they headed to the town of Clunes, about 20 klms. from Ballarat. Sadly Christina died from blood poisoning on Tuesday, October 31st 1865, at the age of 63. She is buried in the Clunes cemetery. Isaac suffered more sadness only two years later. On 31st of july 1867 his much loved son John was killed while working at the Clunes and Ballarat Alluvial Mines. An inquest was held at the Bull & Mouth Hotel, Clunes on the 1st and 5th of August, where the verdict of accidental death was returned. John was 34 years of age. He left a widow and several children.
