| The start of my family begins with two brothers from Germany. They arrived in philadelphia pa. on the ship Alexanderand Anne September 5,1730. When Henrich and Johannes Klemmer,as the name was spelled with a K, instead of a C, Henrich could not write his name, so the English clerk wrote his name when he checked him off the ship by sound and that is said to be the reason the spelling with a C, and not a K. Johannes Klemmer, strongly believed to be his brother, He wrote in his own handwritting as did most of the other palatine Germans. Our line of Clemmer begins with, I think, Johannes (German for John) Heinrick Klemmer who married Ann Catherine Dauchnier September 16 1710, He emigrated to America on September 5, 1730. He died in 1737. His legitimate son John Ludwig Klemmer, married Ann Elizabeth Beckels, and had a son,George Valintine Klemmer born Febuary 10, 1747, who married Elizabeth Dettero or Totherow. He droppped his first name, George, and used his middle name, Valintine. They had several children, 9 I believe, George Clemmer, one of his cildren, married Hannah Smith, I dont have a date. They had 11 children,John C. Clemmer, He is my great, great ,great, great Grandfather. He married susan Lindberger, they had 13 children,Andrew Clemmer, married to Malinda Rumfelt January 04 1855, they to had a big family, 11 children. Martin Luther Clemmer was my great, great Grandfather, he married Margaret Jane Holobough, they had 9 children. Luther Mckinnly married Zula Lavada Hicks in Bostic North Carolina, They had only two children, my dad Kyle Richard Clemmer and my aunt Janet Jane Clemmer Smith. My aunt married Derek Smith Baty, he died July 04 1993, we all miss him very much. My dad married Lynda Kay Anderson November 20 1962. I am very interested in any relatives with any of these last names, Hicks, Anderson, Smith Baty, any imformation concerning Clemmer. My name is Stephen Kyle Clemmer. |
