| Our Clemons/Clemmons descend from Edward Clemmons in Brunswick, Co. N.C. Our part of the family is from his Great Great Great-Grandson Nathen. Nathen moved to Florida. When or why we are not sure. His son Julian Clemons dropped the second "m", and we have continued to spell it this way. I would like to know more about Nathen and when he moved to Florida and where he met and married his wife Maggie Williams. The story that we have heard is that Nathen had killed a man and fled North Carolina. We also know that Maggie was a Cherokee Indian. Everyone in the family has said that she was from Blowing Rock, N.C. I have not found anything to prove where she was from, but we have a picture of her and she was an Indian. My side of the family is Wilson/McSwain. You will find that some of my files on the McSwain/Hamrick side do not make alot of sense. I am still working on alot of this. I have not had alot of time to do research on this side so most of this is what I have found on-line and from things that my great-grandmother had written down. So please do not take everything I have for fact. This is a work in progress. Really everything that I have is work in progress. |
