My great-grandfather, WILLIAM T. TESSER, was born on May 11, 1827. He left his home, in the Trois Rivieres area of Quebec at a young age and came to Wisconsin, where he would seek out other French-Canadian's. His father, JEAN TESSIER, raised horses to pull boats on the canal. His mother was MARIE LACOURSIERE. William, who roamed around a lot, was a lumberman, butcher, scout and adventurer. He married ANNA MAY GRUBER (born June 10,1864 in Austria), January 19, 1888 in Ashland, Wisconsin. They raised a family in Waushara and Wood Counties, Wisconsin. Anna's mother was ANNA ENGEL. She died and Anna came to America with her father, MATTHEW GRUBER and stepmother, MARY TIAXLER. I'm also searching for LAKIN, EARLY, SPEES, PALMER, TOWNSEND, BALDWIN, BROOKSHIRE, BARLOW, ROSS, DUNTLEY, ROST, FEMLING.Great-grandfather BENJAMIN CLEMENTS was born in the Montreal area, April 27,1844.
