Notes for George William Clifton: 1777 From National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Vol. 102, p. 45, Vol 44:
Enlisted 1777 with the Delaware troups under Captain Daggett, Colonel Vaughn's regiment. In 1828 he applied for a pension, which was allowed. He enlisted at the age of 16 with the Delaware troups. He received bounty land for his service and died in Clarke County Georgia.
Possible children: George, Jr. b March 12, 1799 in Clarke Co., Georgia d June 28, 1845 m Nancy Paty in Jasper Co., Georgia, Hiram, Levin, Peter, and Aaron. 1860 Randolph Co., Alabama census index lists Aaron Clifton pg 654, Clemon F. Clifton pg 627, John T. pg 630, and Nancy pg 580.
Clifton Clan Chronicle; submitted by Freda C. Kindt of Wichita Falls, Texas(granddaughter of Matilda Caroline Clifton Bryan). She writes that Clement Floyd Clifton's mother Elizabeth died when he was about age 3 and he was raised by an older brother. His father George Clifton Remarried Millie Brown in Clarke Co., Georgia in 1807.
