Brown's/Clifton's DeKalb and Randolph Counties Alabama

The Paternal side of my family includes the names Clifton, Brown, Guest, Carter, Strickland, Todd. The Maternal side of my family includes the names Pitts, Solley, Carter, Newman. I could use some help on the Maternal ancestors.

I have extensively researched the Clifton side but am at a roadblock with George William Clifton. Supposedly his father was William Clifton, the first Attorney General of Georgia, but I can find no actual records on William other than mention of his being there and being the Attorney General.

Any and all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
