| The Cloninger Family is quite elusive in that there does not seem to be many with that name around the countryside. There appears to be three separate Cloninger Clans, one from Johann Philippus KLONINGER, son of Michael (1682-1750) and Anna Christina KLONINGER of Ellweiler, Lautenbach, Saar, Germany, who arrived in Philadelphia on the ship "Two Brothers" on 13 Oct 1747 with his wife, Maria Charlotta WULL. This family is quite well documented and later moved to North Carolina. I have quite a vast knowledge of them and theirs and know of several others who are tracking this family. Another was Johan Vallentin KLONINGER who arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Sep 1742 on the ship "Loyal Judith". Possibly a nephew of Valetine Kloninger was Phillip Cloninger who first shows up in Frederick Co., Maryland in 1745, dies in Frederick, MD in 1819 but has a child, Phillip, born in Middletown, MD in 1775, who inturn has a child, Phillip C. CLONINGER born in Frederick Co., MD on 12 May 1808. If you happen to have any connection or know of others who may have connections to the Cloninger Family or any of the following SURNAMES, please let me know and I will make sure the info is correctly entered in my list or given to those who have the proper connection. I will share any information I have with others attempting to climb that tree. SURNAMES I'm searching are: BARNES, BARNS, BOSWELL, BROACH, BUCK, CLONINGER, COLE, EWING, GENTRY, GREEN, HOPKINS, HUGHS, HUGHES, MAST, MONGLE,PARKER, PETTUS, RUSSELL,SHELBURNE, SHEARER, SHULL, SMITH, TAYLOR, THOMAS, WINKLER, and WOOTON, |
