This book is an ongoing labor of love. I have spent many sleepless nights and untold years trying to connect all the Fulcher's of Eastern North Carolina. It has been very difficult indeed. Just when I think I have solved one mystery another unfolds.
I have spent more than twenty five years searching dusty records in court houses, libraries, and archives. I have studied marriage records, wills, estate papers, pension records, military records, deeds and tax records, State Records, Colonial Records, war records, maritime records, custom records, admiralty records, letter books, migration, homestead, school, occupation, as well as Congressional Records.
I have in my collection almost every reference book, local history and published genealogy as well as many rolls of microfilm. I spend countless hours searching the world wide net for new clues. I do not believe that just because I think I have it right, that it is. I spend just about as much time trying to prove myself wrong as I do trying to prove I am right.
Genealogy is never finished, I have changed many records and continue to look for a closure, but believe me it isn't there, unless you are one of those that insist you are always right and refuse to look at or listen to anything to prove different.
I am sure you will find errors and many additions to be made and hope you will share them with me.
There will be repeats of information on some individuals because this information was written in connection of that person and will be repeated each time that person connects from another line of the genealogy. I have done some editing of this problem but have not the time to edit the whole book before Christmas.
All information found in research documents are printed just as it was written or spoke, including misspelled words, slang and expressions.
