2. JOHN² O'NEAL (CHRISTOPHER¹) was born Abt. 1725, and died 1795 in Ocracoke, NC. He married CHRISTAIN.

Notes for JOHN O'NEAL:

John's father willed him 50 acres of land at Hatteras and 50 acres at Chicamacomico. For some reason about 30 years before he died John returned to England for a short while. Possibly to transport more people to America. Carteret County Court records 1765-1766, ROBERT WILLIAMS of Ocracoke exhibited to the court a power of attorney from JOHN O'NEAL of the Kingdom of England appointing JOHN JACKSON of Buxton lawful attorney. JOHN left a will, proved 1795, Hyde Co. Will Book 1-23 pg 253, names his wife and children.
His Bible printed late 1700's now in possession of Elizabeth O'Neal Howard's heirs,
gives wife and childrens names and dates.

Not much is known about this christopher, except that he joined the American Revolution in 1778 at age 18.
