Currently searching for Clouthiers in the Pembroke/ Petawawa area- mainly Alphonse Clouthier and Rose Turcotte. I am trying to trace back to their country of origin if possible.
My great grand- father, Alexander Clouthier was the son of Alphonse Clouthier and Rose Turcotte. He was born February 2 or 3, 1901 and married Ethel Towns. I believe that he moved to the Madawaska area because the Towns family lived in this area. They lived in a settlement at Bark Lake where most of his children were born and then moved to the town of Madawaska. This is where my grandfather, Martin, and father Richard also lived. As such, I believe that Alexander was a "splinter" from his family and the rest are in the Pembroke/ Petawawa area. Unfortunately I have no living relatives that have any information and I haven't been able to find any for myself- so far. However, the search will continue.
One problem I have encountered however, is that there may be an alternate spelling. I believe that Alphonse may have spelled his name without the "H"- Cloutier. I have seen some of his children have their names spelled this way. Having the name spelled two different ways makes research very difficult.
