The John Morahan (Morahn) and Solomon Close Home Page

This homepage is designed for members of the Morahn/Close Family to find their roots. The extended family names are Armstrong, Veverka, Hoxsey, Brandenburg, Heavenhill and Smith. Sarah Smith and John Morahn (aka Morahan)both emigrated to NY from Ireland. Sarah had lived in the home of Bruce Chilton on Staten Island as an indentured servant. John emigrated from Roscomomon, Ireland, via Leeds, England. They married in NY and moved across the country to Illinois. They had three boys: John, George Washington, and Edward, and two girls, Mary and Nellie. John had a son, John, who married Emma Arstrong. They had a son, John Harold Morahn. That was my father.
I am looking for any and all leads to the family in Ireland and Scotland.

Solomon Close was in the Civil War, fighting extensively at Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia. He was injured there, and was on a government pension. His great, great grandson is looking for any and all leads to the members of this Close family.
