The Cochlin Family in Canada

Updated January 24, 2001

About Our Family Research

Family research of the descendents of Timothy Martin Cochlin, who emigrated from Minnisota in 1904 to settle in Southern Alberta, has been progressing well. The more difficult, if not impossible task, however, has been to determine the family's place of birth in Ireland. Two visits to Ireland by a family relative have not been fruitful. US census records and other family stories have indicated place of birth to be County Cork, but no definitive records were found during research to confirm this. There is some evidence that the Coughlan (apparently name was changed from Coughlan to Cochlin after settling in Minnisota to avoid confusion with other families with the same name) family did emigrate to the United States from County Cork. Additional research will be required to confirm this and, if possible, establish birth place.
