Searching for the COFFEE FAMILY
Part of the family says his name is WILLIAM JOEL and part says it is JOEL WILLIAM. He signed his marriage licenses Wm COFFEE. I have found Civil War records in all three names and still don't know which one belongs to him. Any help along this line would sure be appreaciated.

We were told that after the war he left home going to Texas to find work. Some time later the family got a letter from a farmer telling them that he had found Mr. COFFEE laying next to his fence very sick. He lived long enough to tell the farmer who he was and ask him to notify the family.

Soon as the family received the news they all got together and formed a wagon train and went to Texas. They settled in the Dexter, Texas area at first so I think that must have been where he was suppose to have been. They finally came to Oklahoma and settled in the Johnston and Carter County areas.

(J W or W J)? WILLAM COFFEE, b. bet 1820 - 1830 in Alabama or Tennessee. He m. ELIZABETH ANN MOORE 1848 in Somerville, Morgan Co, Alabama.
They had eight children that I know of and all of them were born in Somerville, Morgan Co, Alabama. They all spelled their names different.

I would also like to learn where the family were from before they arrived in Ala.

In addition, I'm researching the WILLIAM RICHARDSON DOBBS, family of Coleman County, Texas. He was born July 5, 1875, somewhere in Texas. He was always know as WILL DOBBS. His parents came from Alabama according to the 1920 census. I have been told that his parents died when he was very young and a family named LOGGINS raised him. He was living and working on Dr. Spruill's Farm in Gouldbusk, Texas when he met and married ROSA MAY JOHNSON about 1906 or 1907. They had twelve children of which 9 lived that I know of. There were seven boys and two girls:
1. Robert M.(Milo or Milam),
2. Houston S (Doc),
3. A. Lee
4. Martha
5. Jessie
6. Liddie
7. George G. (Dave)
8. Ernest
9. Elithie (Lassie)
At one time are another, they lived in Novice, Stacy and Coleman, Texas.
If anyone has any information about my Grandfather I would sure appreaciate any help I can get. He was a farmer and I've been told he worked on a sheep farm for a while. He must have traveled quite a bit working on different farms because I haven't been able to find him on any census before 1910 in Coleman, Texas.
Any Information would be appreaciated. I will also be more than glad to share any information that I have.
