" The Edward Coghlan family from Ottawa Valley "

The Edward & Jane Coghlan family immigrated from Ireland around late 1830's from King's county and settled in Pontiac county in Quebec and eventually migrated to parts of Ontario near Ottawa and eventually out west to Vancouver or down south to Michigan.

The family initially spelled their name Cochlin, changing to Coughlin, Coughlan and finally around late 1800's or early 1900's some of the family switched to Coghlan.

Edward & Jane had four children , Willian, Ellen, James & John. Jane died before 1844 and Edward married Catherine McLaughlin and then had two sons Richard and Charles. Edward died in 1861 in Eardley Quebec.

Names in the family include, Jarvis, Donaldson, Bennett, Jamieson, Cowan, Dooley, Driscoll,
