The ages match almost perfectly permitting me to conclude that this is the correct family. Recently, while going through some of Granny's stuff, I came across a postcard of the Moot Hall at Elstow. And as fortune would have it someone had actually written on the back of it. It must be someone from Martha's side of the family as it mentions Emma. It is from another aunt but I am unable to make out just who it is. It also says Emma's birthday was on the 11th January. Anyway, I've scanned the postcard, so please find it attached. I have also recently received the will of William COLE. I don't know if you already have it or not, I would be most happy to post you a copy.

Sorry about that. I forgot there's more than one William COLE. I'm talking about the father of Emma & Martha.
And the Moot Hall is in Elstow, not far from Cardington. It is a 15th century brick and timber markethouse, which is now a Museum of the life of John Bunyan.
I don't know how long William lived at Elstow, but that is where he died. Thw will doesn't say much, but it is always nice to have paper copies of these things.
Also found amongst the stuff in Mum's camphorwood chest, which she hasn't had a good look around for a while, we found a religious book of Martha's. She had written her name in it as well at the year and place. So they were living at Cotton End in 1841. I can't believe we have a book so old still in one piece! \DC0163
