Notes for Charles Fremont Pryer:
Below is an excerpt from a 15 page manuscript of the history of the Pryor family composed by Effie O. (Pryor) Burgwin typed about Nov 1951.

Charles Fremont Pryer. Born December 16, 1856. Died
March 15, 1925.
Married to
Laura D. Solinger, daughter of Daniel Solinger, brother of Andrew Solinger, who married Jane Pryer, consequently, when Laura married Charles Pryer her Uncle Andrew become her brother-in-law.

Charles Fremont Pryer worked on his fathers farm until he took his family and in company with his brother, William, and his family, and their sister, Emerensa, and her three children went to Missouri. Date unknown. After he went to Missouri he became a minister. They had nine children:
Faye, Bertie, and Luther died in infancy.
Fannie Pryer, born October 29, 1881. Died September 1944. Married J. O. Montgomery. After he died she married Larson. She had no children.
Floyd H. Pryer, born 1883. Married Clydia Crabtree. They had four children: Clarence Pryer, Laura (Pryer) Gouge, Faye (Pryer) Wagoner, and Olive (Pryer) Harris. All have families.
Francis Herbert Pryer, born, 1885. Died in an automobile accident 1929. Married Zura Homea and had two children: Freeman Pryer and Leon Pryer.
Florence V. Pryer, born 1887. Married J. E. Wigger and have two children: Adolph Wigger and Gertrude (Wigger) Schnyder.
Harry F. Pryer, born 1892. Married Margaret Hopkins and have three children: Vergie (Pryer) Webb, Myrtle (Pryer) Netter, and Sybol (Pryer) Masterson.
Myrtle M. Pryer, born 1894. Married Leroy Buckley and have two children: Raymond M. Buckley and Betty Jean Buckley, both married.
All the living children of Charles and Laura Pryer live in Missouri except Florence who lives in Granite City, Ill.
After Laura died Charles married again but had no children to his second wife.
An extraordinary circumstance is that John, William, and Charles Pryer and also their sister Emerensa each married a second time after they went to Missouri.

The members of the Peter Pryer family were all hardworking conscientious people who never accumulated more of this worlds goods than they could conveniently make use of. After his death oil was discovered on his farm which would have been very welcome and would have made him feel like a rich man but it was too late to be of any
benefit to him. Perhaps he was just as happy without the oil money to bother and worry about.

Excerpt from a 15 page manuscript of the history of the Pryor family composed by Effie O. (Pryor) Burgwin typed about Nov 1951, has DOD osMarch 15, 1925.

Excerpts from Obit:
Rev Charles F Pryer was born in Oil City, Penn, Dec 16, 1855, died Fri AM March 13, 1925. United in marriage to Sarah (should be Laura) D Solinger January 11, 1881. They had nine children, three of whom with their mother have preceded him in death. Oct 17, 1901 he married Mrs P A Estes. He began preaching the gospel in 1870. He was a local preacher until 1902 when he was admitted to the Southwest Missouri Conference. 5 weeks before his death he gave up work because of ill health. He last worked in Miami, where he lived. 2 weeks ago he went to his son's home near Hazlegreen. He leaves 3 sons: F. R. Pryer & F.H.Pryer, both of Stoutland, and H.F.Pryer of Independence; He leaves 3 daughters: Mrs J C Montgomery of Independence, Mrs J E Wigger of Granite City, IL and Mrs Roy Buckley of Stover, MO....
Rev. Pryer had bronchial asthma and while staying with daughter, Mrs Buckley, in Stover, he became very ill after contracting a cold from which he never recovered. He was then taken to the home of a son in Richland (Stroutland area). Mrs Buckley accompanied him and remained at his bedside until his death.

  Notes for Laura D Solinger:
Many stories were told by Myrtle Pryer about her mean step-mother. She was under 5 when her mother died. She said she recalled sitting on her father's lap & asking him if her mother would be cold.

She told a story about her "red-headed mean step mother" whipping her & her brother Harry. Then she & Harry ran away (both less and 10 years old) and her step mother came looking for them. She was driving the horse & buggy. Myrtle said that her step mom nearly wore out the buggy whip on her and Harry. Story relayed by Raymond M. Buckley, son of Myrtle. He said his mother also told him she would eat bugs or things that would make her sick in hopes that her dad would come home earlier.

INTERMENT: Per great granddaughter, Shirley Wright, the cemetery is the public cemetery in Vienna MO right next to the Catholic cemetery, west of Vienna 1 1/2 Miles on Hwy 42. The grave is near the front of the public portion, on the right, where the central entrance road turns west. It is poured concrete stone with covering over the entire grave. Shirley and Bob Wright made extensive repairs a couple years ago. Per email November 6, 2000 from Bob Wright.

Name on Marker: Per Shirley Wright, her grandfather, Floyd Pryer, commissioned the stone and the man who made the stone from concrete spelled her name as "Laura Prior". Shirley is not sure if Floyd or the stone maker spelled it that way.
