He began genealogy research for both his Coling/Deitrick families and his wife's Thompson/Oswalt family ancestor's in the late 1960's. Initially this began as a hobby but grew throughout his lifetime. A majority of research contained within began from his efforts. It became a major goal and pride of his as time went on to try and perfect this and was his pet project after his retirement in 1987. In the years before his passing it became increasingly more and more difficult due to his health to maintain the focus he once had and control over the vast spread of documents and pictures in his possession but the spirit he intended is maintained and he smiles at the results and hopes you will too and pass this on to younger and future members of the family. This will always be a work in progress as it was with him. Thanks for your genealogy research, Dad.
