BIRTH NOTES:
Henry's 1866 birth date and place of birth were found in Bud Coling's notes. It's not verified for certain that Henry was born in Independence in Warren County, Indiana. Family census records for 1860 and 1870 indicate that the Oswalt family was living in Montgomery County, Indiana. It's possible that the family might have lived in the Independence area at the time that Henry was born and then moved back to Montgomery County in time for the 1870 Census but it's not known for certain if this was the case. Henry's brother George who was born about two years earlier was indicated in his 1938 obituary as being born in Waynetown, Indiana.

According to the 1900 Census, Henry is listed as living with his niece Mary Etta King Pierce and her family in Wayne Twp., Montgomery County, Indiana. Mary Pierce was the daughter of his sister Sarah Oswalt King. Henry's occupation is listed as day laborer.

According to the 1930 Census, no listing for Henry could be found on the family census or located anywhere else. His wife Maude was listed as head of household and she was listed as married, George and Maude may possibly have been separated or divorced at this time.

According to brother George Oswalt's obituary of November 1938, Henry was living in Warsaw in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

He is buried in lot 39, block 39 at Oakwood Cemetery. Henry's death date is from his tombstone inscription. His wife Maude Rowe Oswalt Kuehn and his brother George are also buried at Oakwood. Other younger members of Henry's and George's family's are possibly also buried there.

His death year of 1952 was originally supplied from research information from Blanche Hamm.
