Carl Raymond Thompson was born June 2, 1905 in Montgomery County, Indiana. Carl was the oldest son of George and Daisy (Abbott) Thompson.

He almost graduated from Jackson High School in Tippecanoe County, Indiana in 1923 but had a disagreement with the teaching staff near graduation time and decided to quit school. He attended New Richmond High School prior to 1923 before the family moved to an area that was closer to Jackson. He is mentioned in the 1923 New Richmond High School yearbook as giving a 'hard times' party for the sophomore class that year which would have been in 1922. The party was mentioned as the most important happening for the sophomore's at New Richmond High School for 1922. This may have been a going away party after he found out the family was going to be moving and he was going to be going to Jackson High School. However, it was to his and his future children and grandchildren's good fortune that he first met Beulah Oswalt at Jackson High School in 1923.

On July 4, 1925 in Attica, Fountain Co., Indiana he married Beulah V. Oswalt who was born July 19, 1905 in Odell, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana.

Beulah was the oldest daughter of Ray and Ethel (Peterson) Oswalt. Their children were:
Everett Eugene (April 4, 1926) and Rosalyn Marie (August 4, 1927).

Carl was a farmer in Montgomery, Benton and Tippecanoe counties, Indiana. He also worked as a Pinkerton security guard at Ross Gear Industries in Lafayette. He later also worked road drag and retired from the Montgomery County Highway Department. He was very mechanically inclined and was a very hospitable person who enjoyed people and always had a good time with just about everybody.

Carl died as the result of an automobile accident on US231 on April 2, 1994 in Linden, Montgomery Co., IN. He passed away at 9:24 PM at St. Clare Hospital formerly known as Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Carl was a resident of Wingate, Indiana at the time of his death.

At birth, she was not given a middle name. Later on in life she chose the letter V as her middle initial.
This was in remembrance of her aunt Mamie (Verby) Verba Oswalt who died in 1912 at the early age of 26. Beulah was very attached to her Aunt Verba and was just seven years old at the time of Verby's passing.

At the time of her marriage, she was a clerk for the Tippecanoe County Superintendent of Schools.
