Notes for ALBERT CRITTENDON POLLITT:
1. Obituary (Original clipping found among the family papers of J. J. Pollitte; see record #810P.)
"Bro. J. J. Pollitt, Rectorville, Ky., was born December 22, 1852, and departed this life January 2, 1916. He was married November 30, 1876, to Miss Nettie E. Webster. Pollitt, Frank Pollitt and Rev. S. H. Pollitt, pastor Lancaster Station."
2. See record #900-P, "Family Notes of Albert Webster Pollitte;" written by AWP prior to his death on November 1, 1953. AWP was a school teacher, public accountant, and insurance agent. It is difficult to determine exactly when or over what period these notes were compiled, but perhaps as early as the early 1930's (see appendix A for additional background). These notes, where verified, have proven extremely accurate.
Record states that "Albert and Mary had no children. In their late years they sold their farm in Rectorville & moved to Amelia, Ohio, Where he later died and was brought back to Mt. Olivet Church where he was buried by the grave of his first wife Elizabeth & Arthur."
3. Will (Probated Jan. 13, 1887):
Know all men by these presents that I Mary A. Pollitt of the County of Mason and State of Kentucky (Female) being in ill health but of sound and disposing mind and memory make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made, and as to any worldly estate and all the property real, personal or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, I do hereby devise and bequeath equally, share and share alike unto my five nephews, namely Albert C. Pollitt, William T. Pollitt, John J. Pollitt, George F. Pollitt, Seneca H. Pollitt, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my nephew Albert C. Pollitt to be the Executor of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I the said Mary A. Pollitt have to this my last will and testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 28th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred and eighty-six.
Mary A. Pollitt
4. Will:
January 16, 1849
Knowing that my brother Albert J. Pollitte was very ill and believing from his former dictations that he wished to make some disposition of his property, his brother George W. Pollitte asked him in my presence, as he was very ill, if he wished and (he) George, believing that he would die; if he wished his mother and sisters to have his property, and then my brother Albert J. Pollitte replied to me — that he wished his son Albert C. Pollitte son of G. W. Pollitte to have all of his property after paying all of his just debts.
Mary A. Pollitt
Mason County Sct.
March Court 1849
The non-cupative will of Albert J. Pollitt was further proved by the testimony of George W. Pollitt, who swore that the written paper already filed and sworn to as the non-cupative will of said Albert J. Pollitt by Mary A. Pollitt, contained and truly set forth the disposition of his property as declared by himself during his last illness in January 1849 at his residence. And that the same was committed to writing by Mary A. Pollitt at his request prior to his death, and testimony was also produced proving notice to all the next of kin of the present motion: whereupon the same was ordered to be recorded.
Administration of the estate of Albert J. Pollitt decd. with his non-cupative will annexed, is granted to George W. Pollitt who made oath and executed and acknowledged bond with Samuel Pollitt as his security in the penalty of four hundred dollars conditioned as the law requires. And on his motion it is ordered that a certificate be granted him for obtaining letters of administration thereof in due form.
