  Welsh Colbert's which so far originate from somewhere in Ireland, The family has always been told that the family came from France, however I have not found any evidence of this so far.   My Grandfather on my mothers side.Campbell Taylor was born in Neath Road Landore Swansea in 1918 to Catherine Elizabeth Miller and Campbell Charles Taylor both from Brynhyfryd Swansea. Catherine's family,The Miller's originated from Bridport Dorset, and Campbell's family came from Bideford Devon near Ilfracombe. My Grandad Campbell was the eldest child in the family. He later married Annie Gwendolen Davies of Lisbon Treboeth in 1939 and they had 2 sons and 1 daughter, and lived many places in Swansea but settled in Cheriton Cres Portmead Swansea.Campbell also served in the Second World War.

  My Great Grandfather, John Colbert born Swansea in 1868 to Irish Parents Patrick John Colbert (c.1840/1) & Mary Fitzgerald (c.1835). John married "Lillian Emily Beynon" on Christmas Day 1899 in Swansea. Unable to find John and his birthfamily in the Uk after 1871 in Emma Street (Greenhill area), John Next appears on a Census in 1891 with his wife "Lily" and new son "Harry Colbert" c.1890 in Swansea. In 1881 John or his Birthfamily are no where to be found. John re-married later in life to a "Florence Elizabeth Lewis" but this marriage I am led to beleive was a short and unhappy union. When John Died in July 1943 he was listed as an I.C.I Worker Pensioner. John and Lily had sons Harry, Christopher, William John, and Daughters Violet May & Lily

  My Grandfather Christopher James Colbert born in 67 Baptist Well Rd, Swansea, his parents were John Colbert c.1868-1943 & Lily Emily Beynon both of Swansea Wales. John's family were from Ireland, and Lily's family lived in Swansea in the 1850's but originated from Carmarthenshire

  Mary Catherine Hawes was born in Plasmarl Swansea, the Hawes line seemed to originate from Morriston Swansea, I have her family line to 1796 in Morriston Swansea, The Only Hawes families in Glamorganshire in 1841 and 1851 are descendants of mine.Mary's parents were John Hawes & Ann Evans. Mary married Richard Thomas Park c.1888 - 1973. He originated from Bristol and moved to Swansea working for the Great Western Railways in Landore Swansea, both lived in Mysydd Tce Landore before both their deaths,in 1946 & 1976.

• Harry Colbert c.1890 - 1966 Swansea Wales (110 KB)
  Harry Colbert my Great Uncle, was born in 53 Gorse Rd, Cwmbwrla Swansea S.Wales to father John Colbert c.1868 & Mother Lilian E Beynon c.1866. Harry Colbert married Lily Maud Bevan c.1893 in St Marks Waun Wen Swansea on 2 August 1920. They had one son and two daughters all brought up in Swansea S.Wales.
• Richard Thomas Park 1888-1976 (27 KB)
  My Great Grandfather Richard "Dickie" Thomas Park He was born to William John Park who was born in Buncrana Donegal or Dublin Ireland in 1845 & Elizabeth Taylor who was from Yeovil Somerset. Richard had many half brothers (from his father's widowed 1st marriage to Eliza Lavinia Lush) and one full sister Florence Mary Maud Park (Gillam)c.1886. Here is a photograph of Richard whilst serving with H.M.S Severn in the 1st world war. He later married Mary Catherine Hawes & moved to Swansea Wales where he worked with the G.W.Railways in Landore as a Railway Engine Driver.

  My Grandmother Violet May Park she was born in Heol Fach Treboeth Swansea Wales in 1912 to parents Mary Catherine Hawes and Richard Thomas Park. She was the eldest of their children. Violet later married Christopher James Colbert (c.1895 - 1969) who was also from Swansea. They had 2 sons and 1 daughter in Swansea.
