(The following transcript of Heny Collins' last will and testament is taken directly from the original document, and contains all errors of grammar, punctuation and spelling intact.)

Will of Henry Collins, Dearborn County, Indiana, Book B, Page 55. I Henry Collens of Dearborn County State of Indiana do make this my last will and testament. First it is my desire that all my just debts shall be discharged. Secondly my wife's third taken out as the law requires it so to be after which it is my desire that all my real and personal estate shall be equally divided between my three sons Edwin William and Daniel Collins they paying to my daughter Delia M Collins five hundred and fifty dollars and to my son Henry B Collins fifty dollars except my son Edwin Collins who in consideration of services rendered since he was twenty one years of age shall be entitled to two hundred dollars more than his equal share. Further if either of the above Edwin William or Daniel Collins cannot agree in an amicable division of the same it is my desire that each one shall make choice of some judicious individual which three after being sworn shall proceed to divide the same in the manner they shall think most equitable. In testimony hear of I have set my hand and seal to this my last will and testament. December 28, 1839

Henry Collins was an accomplished violinist (more likely "fiddle player"), and one of his violins survives to this day. It has been professionally restored.

There is a story passed down through the William Collins descendants of Rising Sun, Indiana...William was a son of Henry...that says Henry first came to Indiana with his brother riding a flatboat down the Ohio River from New York State. His brother (unnamed) stayed in Cincinnati, while Henry came on to Rising Sun, Dearborne County (later Ohio County), Indiana. This would have been after 1814, but before 1818. Henry's first three children were born in New York. (Census of 1820, Randolph Twp., Dearborne County, Indiana.)

Notes for D
Deborah Beach was a descendant of a long line of New England pioneers dating back to 1628, when her great great great grandfather, Thomas Beach, a shoemaker, was born in England. He crossed the Atlantic and settled in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut while it was still an English colony. Here, he met and married Sarah Platt, who also was born in England. His brother, John, also came to America about the same time, and settled in New Haven. Moses Yale Beach (1800-1868), founder and owner of the famous newspaper, the New York Sun, was a great great great grandson of John, brother of Thomas. Moses was an aggressive journalist credited with the formation of the international news agency now known as the Associated Press. His son, Moses Sperry Beach (1822-1892), invented a cutting machine that allowed printing on a continuous roll of paper and a process for printing both sides of a newspaper at one time.
