Chester Comer, 84, Windson Estates, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 1968, in Howard Community Hospital. He was born April 24, 1903, in Center, the son of Eva Comer. Comer had been self-employed and had worked at Libby McNeil and Libby. He attended Salvation Army Citadel. There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ellers Mortuuary. Maj. Donald Brundige will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

AVERY W. MAIN, 67, DIES IN FLORIDA ON MONDAY

Avery W. Main, 67, a resident on Lincoln Road, died suddenly Monday of a heart attack at Braden Castle Camp, Bradenton, Fla., where he had gone to spend the winter months for the last 20 years. He had not been in ill health and the end came suddenly and wholly unexpectedly.
Mr. Main was born Aug. 2, 1887, at Center, Ind., the son of Nehemiah and Mary Jane (Comer) Main. He had lived in the Kokomo community all his life.
After working for 20 years as a salesman for the Dimitt Bros. Packing Co., he started his own company, Main's Meat Market, in 1932 and had operated it since that time.
He was an active member of Howard Lodge No. 93, F. & A. M., of the Chapter, Council and Commandery, was a past commander of the Commandery and had been a member of the Temple Board the last 15 years. He also was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Ibn Saud Grotto, Scottish Rite and Murat Temple of the ....
He was a member of the Kokomo Lions Club and Eagles Lodge and at one time had held most of the chairs in the State Odd Fellows Lodge. At Bradenton he was active in the Shuffleboard League.
Mr. Main had served on the Howard County Alcoloholic Beverage Board since its inception and at the time of his death was president of the board.
Surving are the wife, who was Izetta Ratcliff before their marriage, March 31, 1906, one son, Mervin Main, Lincoln Road, who is associated with his father in the business and two daughters, Mary, Mrs. Franklin VanSickle, 2916 E. Markland Ave., and Josephine, Mrs. Walter Korba, Kokomo, R. R.
There are six grandchildren, one of whom, Bill VanSickle, is with the Army at Frankfurt, Germany. One brother, Merle Main, Kokomo, survives with two nieces and three nephews.
A son, Herbert, died in 1925 and a brother, Omer Main, died last August.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Fenn Funeral Home, with the full Blue Lodge service and the Commandery in honor. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m.

EX-CAPTAIN OF KOKOMO POLICE DIES

Omer L. (cap) Main, 74, member of the Kokomo Police Department many years, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 737 S. Washington St. He had been ill for five years and bedfast the past five months.
Born Nov. 13, 1879, in Taylor Township, he was the son of Nehemiah and Mary J. Comer Main. He live in Kokomo and vicinity all his life.
He joined the Kokomo Police Department Feb. 15, 1912, became night captain in 1915 and day captain Nov. 30, 1918. He retired in 1934 after 22 years on the force and moved to his farm where he lived for nine years, returning to Kokomo 11 years ago.
He was a member of the Main St. Methodist Chruch, Kokomo Masonic Lodge and Modern Woodmen.
Six years age he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with Mrs. Main who was the former Cora Bell Newlin.
Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Hazel, at home, one grandson, Rollie Surguy and two great granddaughters living in Warsaw. One daughter and one granddaughter are deceased.
Other survivors are two broghers, Avery W. Main and Leo M. Main, both of Kokomo, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fenn Funeral Home, followed by burial in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Cora B. Main

Cora Bell Main, 93, 2700 N. Washington St., died early Tuesday morning in the Americana Nursing Center. she had been in failing health for several months.
Born July 5, 1878 in Illinois, she was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Ellen (Mote) Newlin
She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.
On April 6, 1898, she was married to Omer L. Main, who preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1954.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Hazel Main, Kokomo; a grandson, and two great-granddaughters. A daughter, a granddaughter, six brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Hilton Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home between 2-5 and 7-9 Wednesday.

HAZEL M. MAIN

Hazel M. Main, 80, 605 S. Bell St., died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1985, in Howard Community Hospital. She was born in West Middleton, May 28, 1903, a daughter of Omer and Cora (Newlin) Main.
She had been a member of Main Street United Methodist Church since 1927 and was a charter member of Okeh Club.
There are no immediate survivors. One sister is deceased.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until time for the services at 2 p.m. in Fenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.

ELMER COMER

J.W. Comer, 1046 South Union street, received word of the death of his brother, Elmer Comer, 61, which occurred early Sunday morning at his home near Fairmount. He had been ill since the death of his wife November 1, but death came unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Surviving besides the brother in Kokomo are the father, J. M. (should be J.N) Comer of the same address; five children, Murel, Harold and John Comer living near Fairmount , Mrs. Ruth Raup of Fairmount and Mrs. Bertha Seward of Amboy; sister, Mrs. Marie Power (should be Powers) of Greentown; 11 grandchildren and number of relatives in Howard County.
Funeral services will be held at the home near Fairmount at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
